My 21st Birthday Party - Part 1

Ok sorry, this came a bit late (5 months after my party). Since I am super free this holiday, decided to post the photos of my 21st Birthday Party that was held on 2 December 2006 at Uncle Patrick's house. My actual birthday is 30 Nov but I decided to wait for most friends to finish their exam and pushed the party to a later date. Initally the venue was supposed to be the rooftop garden at my place, but due to the upgrading project in my area, the garden was still under the Construction Company and hence I could not book the place. So, I decided not to have a party. But about 2 weeks before my birthday, my parents told me that Uncle Patrick is back in Singapore!! I called him and asked for permission to use his house for my party. He agreed but of course teased me lar.

One good thing about Uncle's house is that there was a Billard Table so at least some are entertained. The garden is big enough for my 70+ guests.

I had to order the cake, food, contact my friends and relatives, buy dress and party stuff + STUDY for the LAST paper. I did everything ALL by MYSELF!!! The party turned out to be quite happening and the theme was Blue (my fav. colour).

My super delicious birthday cake specially ordered! It was supposed to be an essay of my feelings for the last 21 years but they could not write the entire essay on this cake so I had to edit the message into just one paragraph. It cost $120++ and weigh about 4.2kg. Ling Jie Jie and Bing Bing went to collect the cake for me since the bakery do not provide delivery service. It was damn heavy but everyone (including my 70+ years old Grandma said it was simply DELICIOUS!) Of course lar, my birthday cake leh. Either the best or nothing!

100 Blue balloons were used and hung in the garden by my cousins - two ah BOYS and my Uncle who actually applied for leave to help me!!! I was soo touched! He is really a very nice Uncle. Always there for everyone. My two cousins and uncle came to help at around 4+pm, blowing 100 balloons and decorating. Thank you!

The picture on the left showed the reception table at the entrance, with blue roses and some photos. I custom-made the book with my name and the date (30 november 2006) printed on the cover page @ Bras Basah. I bought the drawing papers from Arts Friends for $3 and the binding itself cost $25!! Sorry lar, everything must be prefect. And I believe the money is well spent.

PS: The book is still with my good friend, SUMIT!! Because he was the last to write. He was supposed to be my photographer on that day but due to the stupid army that kept him in camp, I had no full-time photographer at my party. That explains why not every single part of the party was photographed.

These are the presents I received from the party + ang bao (shall not disclose how much I received but I can only say that I made a "profit" hee) Thanks friends and relatives, especially Kor, Uncle Meng, Godma and Grandma (they are VERY generous hee)

Dad let me choose what I want, so I chose a diamond necklace and a pair of small diamond earrings from SK jewellery. (about $400+ decided not to be too greedy)

My best friend, Geraldine also let me choose what I want, so I chose a white Coach sling bag. (after discount $240++)

DC buddies were really buddies, they chose to attend my party than going to work! Thanks Roy, Zheng Yu, Kai Xing, Michelle, Pam and Yati who came! They bought me a hair straightener. Though I rebonded my hair not long ago, I did play with the present a few times before.

I spent a total of $1000 for this party. My dad offered to sponser my party but due to my stubborness and wanting to be independence, I rejected his proposal!!

His proposal: He will pay for the total bill and deduct from my ang bao $. I will get to keep the excess but if less than, he will take everything.

FOOD from eatzcatering: $10.50 * 70pax + 1 usher ($60) + 1 hr extension ($10) + 50 stools (@ $0.50 each)

But because that usher underperformed (or never perform) and they were LATE and came EARLY to collect the stuff, I lodged a complain demanded a refund for that usher and the extended hour. The refund took a few months and a few email. Though many people feedback that the food was good, I felt that service plays a bigger role in retaining customers.

Beer was kindly sponsered by Aunty Jean and Uncle Patrick. Drinks and chickenwings were sponsered by Mum and Grandma.

60 Blue roses were ordered and sponsered by my two primary school classmates - Yantong and erm.. someone (forgot who) hee.. Each female guest received a blue rose at the end of the party.

About 20 Handmade tealight holders by Mum using plastic bottles since it was too windy at Uncle's place.
